Volvo Cars began manufacturing the Volvo 140 series at Torslandaverken in the late summer of 1966 and Beginning with the 140 series, Volvo used a tri-digit nomenclature, indicating series, number of cylinders and number of doors, The 140 was the first Volvo to feature a more rectilinear or boxy styling.
Growing up, my father would always refer to Volvos as “boxes-on-wheels”. Over the years Volvo’s have definitely evolved from the box-look to a more refined and curvy box-look. The latest redesigns for 2009 include safety improvements, increased overall comfort and more convenience.
